APTERS is a non–profit organization, made up of disabled individuals. The organization was established in 1990 with the aim of producing mobility aids using appropriate paper technology (i.e. using recycled cardboard and assorted papers). APTERS produce assorted devices such as standing frames, special chairs and walkers for children with cerebral palsy and other disabling conditions.
In an effort to enhance the income generated from the project, we also produce a variety of craft products which are sold at local craft markets – such as waste paper bins, box files, toy boxes and piggy banks.
APTERS have a Support Group, made up of a small group of enthusiastic volunteers who feel able to commit some of their time and resources to the promotion of APTERS, their work and their products. A key task of the Support Group is also to play an active role in the fundraising effort of the organisation.
